2014 Cruze Diesel: Clean, Fuel Efficient & Stylish

At age 16, I was perfectly willing to climb behind the wheel of any motor vehicle with four wheels and an engine. However, my driving needs have changed pretty significantly over the years.
During my first year in the “real world”, fuel efficiency quickly became the most important box to check on my vehicle needs list. Thanks to the 9-5 workday commute, filling up at the pump as seldom as possible was the most appealing aspect of driving. Had the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel been introduced that year, I can say without a doubt it would have been a top contender when I was shopping for a new vehicle.
For those of you who aren’t yet familiar with this incredible piece of machinery, here’s one key statistic you won’t want to forget: the Cruze Diesel delivers an industry best EPA-estimated 46 MPG on the highway – better than any non-hybrid passenger car in America.
Maybe you’re wondering how that translates into mileage? Put it this way, if you’re planning a cross-country trek, having a vehicle that can travel 700 highway miles on a single tank of gas is the way to go! Now maybe I am a simple gal, but if I only had to visit the gas pump once every month and a half or so, it’s pretty safe to say my happiness meter would skyrocket.
In addition to being efficient, the Cruze Diesel isn’t sacrificing style for fuel economy. Available in an array of rich colors, the vehicle sports 17-inch alloy wheels and leather appointed seating.
The Cruze Diesel also comes equipped with the MyLink infotainment system, Chevrolet’s newest technology designed to provide you with comfort, convenience and safety while driving.
If you’re not yet impressed by this addition to the Chevy lineup, keep reading. With a starting price of $25,695 (including an $810 destination charge), the Cruze Diesel is not only a better value than its competitors, it takes the cake in performance, too.
With an estimated 148 horsepower and an estimated 258 lb-ft of torque, it can go from 0-60 in under 9 seconds. The overboost feature makes the Cruze Diesel capable of increasing torque to an estimated 280 lb-ft for short bursts of stronger acceleration when needed. In other words, next time you’re merging into freeway traffic, you can do so with ease.
Above all else (fuel efficiency, style and performance), the Cruze Diesel is powered by the cleanest diesel passenger car engine produced by General Motors. Compared to other diesel vehicles, it generates 90 percent less Nitrogen Oxide and particulate emissions.
The 2014 Cruze Diesel is currently in limited markets, but will be made available nationwide and throughout Canada early this fall.
With gas prices teetering around $4 a gallon, there’s no time like the present to start considering the Cruze Diesel as your next vehicle!
