5 Local Events to Attend This October


October is right around the corner, and as crazy as that sounds, that does not mean we have to wait until the end of the month when Halloween rolls around to have fun. There are plenty of great events happening in the metro Detroit area throughout the month, and here are five we think should be on your calendar.

Downtown Royal Oak Beer Stroll

The sixth annual Royal Oak Beer Stroll will take place tomorrow, October 1 from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. Attendees will be able to sample some of the top craft beers from Michigan’s best breweries and try signature dishes from 22 restaurants. Tickets are $40 in advance, or $50 at the check-in, although tickets are not guaranteed. Check-in will be located at the corner of Center and Washington Street.

PennTasteTic Downtown Restaurant Crawl

The Plymouth Community Chamber of Commerce, along with the Friends of Penn, will be hosting the PENN-Taste-Tic Downtown Restaurant Crawl on October 4 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Crawlers will be able to walk around downtown Plymouth and try some of the great offerings from downtown Plymouth restaurants like Alpine Chocolat Haus, Cupcake Station, Little Bangkok, Westborn Market, and more. Tickets are only available online and are $20 for adults and $15 for children under 10.

Royal Oak Oktoberfest

The Royal Oak Farmers Market will be hosting the Royal Oak Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 8 at 7:30 p.m. The festival will feature the best ciders and seasonals in the area, along with live entertainment, food from local restaurants, brewery representatives, and more. General admission is $15, while VIP admission is $20 and also includes admission into the festival an hour early.

Ann Arbor Annual Arts & Craft Show

With over 60 unique handcrafted artisans, the Ann Arbor Arts & Craft Show guarantees something for everyone. This year’s event will take place on October 8 at the New Grace Apostolic Temple and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Ann Arbor Community. Along with all of the arts and crafts, there will also be concessions, baked goods, and face-painting. Admission  is $2 for those 12 and over.

Busted!

The Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers will be hosting BUSTED! A Live Storytelling Event on Friday, October 21 at 7 p.m. The event will feature different storytellers performing their own stories with the LSO Dance Company and musician Sam Trump. It will take place at the Wright Museum and tickets start at $20.
