Autorama 2016: America’s Greatest Hot Rod Show Returns to Detroit


Hot rod fans, it’s that time of year again! The 64th Annual Autorama returns to the city that put the world on wheels this weekend. The event, which is proudly sponsored by your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers, starts this Friday, Feb. 26 and goes through Sunday, Feb. 28 at the Cobo Center.

Tickets cost $19 for general admission, $6 for children ages 6 to 12 and are free for children ages 5 and younger. In addition, discounted tickets are available at O’Reilly Auto Part Stores: $17 for adults and $5 for children. As always, Autorama features cars, trucks, customs, guest appearances and even music!

Some guest appearances to keep in mind include Danny “The Count” Koker from the History Channel’s “Counting Cars,” WWE superstar Daniel Bryan, the Discovery Channel’s Barry Meguiar, the Disney Channel’s Olivia Holt and more! Free celebrity autographs will be available at the event.

Did I mention the exhibitions and features? Autorama Extreme showcases traditional hot rods, custom cars and motorcycles, while Cavalcade of Customs features a 10 car exhibit of custom vehicles. Live demonstrations such as Car Care Tips, shows like the 24th Annual Toy-A-Rama and sophisticated events like the Ridler’s Ball are also integral happenings at Autorama.

Musical entertainment also makes an appearance, as Koker’s rock ‘n’ roll band, Count’s 77, performs on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Several rockabilly bands also play at the event. Rhythm Deluxe performs on Friday, Rio & The Rockabilly Revival play Saturday and Twistin’ Tarantulas hit the stage both Saturday and Sunday.

Other smaller events to be aware of include Student Career Day, the Pinup Girl Contest and the Summit Racing Equipment Chop Shop demonstration.
