Fact: southeast Michigan features several places to shoot pool. There is nothing that goes better with a game of billiards than a cold beer, a fun atmosphere and a great group of people. Even if shooting the cue ball is not your forte (me), it is often a ton of fun. So, gather up your crew and head to one of the many pool halls in the metro Detroit area.
Located in Warren, Plush Pocket has everything an avid billiards player is looking for. It offers 24 pool tables and a 10-foot snooker table. In addition, entertainment is all around the establishment with 24 flat-screen TVs and two projection screens! Plush Pocket also has darts, virtual shuffleboard, pinball and more. The venue hosts leagues and tournaments as well.
Novi’s Breaktime Billiards has 13 pool tables, darts, several TVs, food, a bar and just about everything else you need. It also offers leagues and tournaments, as well as arcade games. One thing it offers that you won’t find at your everyday pool hall is a comedy club – Laff Tracks Comedy Club. As if this was not enough, Breaktime has DJs every weekend and karaoke on Wednesdays.
While the ambiance at this Ann Arbor establishment is what some may consider as “divey” (which is definitely not a bad thing), it is a great place to shoot some pool. It has cheap drinks, several TVs, an internet jukebox, video games, darts and more. The bar is located underneath the Blind Pig, which continues to bring in great musical acts – Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon have played there in the past!
The next time you get the urge to hit the billiards tables, consider this list. Now, go and have some fun my fellow metro Detroit residents. You deserve it.
