Fleece and Thank You is an organization dedicated to cheering up children staying overnight in hospitals. To accomplish this, they provide colorful blankets complete with hopeful video messages from those that made them. In less than a year, they’ve motivated both individual donors and groups to take on the challenge, resulting in the creation of over 7300 blankets for the cause.
The inspiration for the nonprofit came from Sophie, a young girl with Neural Blastoma that had spent most of her early childhood in hospitals undergoing treatment. Founder, Nicholas Kristock, saw her struggle and felt there had to be a way to give hospitalized children something that might give some relief and distraction.
In addition to organizing blanket donations to hospitals, Fleece and Thank You hold blanket workshops that help cognitively impaired children develop their fine motor skills, while also providing the opportunity for personal growth stemming from helping others in need.
Fleece and Thank You continues to expand their network and find new ways of helping children in local communities, making them true Chevy Detroit Champions.
