You’re most likely not a professional athlete, but that doesn’t mean you don’t want to compete in your favorite sport. While pick-up games at your local community center or gym might be fun, joining a league adds even more competitiveness to each game. Building a team, competing for position in the rankings, and creating relationships with members of the league week to week are all perks of joining a recreation league. There are plenty of leagues starting up in the fall and winter months, and here are five places where you can find some great ones.

Joe Dumar’s Fieldhouse

One of the best indoor facilities in metro Detroit, Joe Dumar’s Fieldhouse offers plenty of leagues in the winter to scratch your competitive itch. The Fieldhouse offers basketball, roller hockey, and volleyball leagues. Total Sports Novi

The Total Sports complex in Novi is a great place for adult soccer leagues all year long. There are three winter sessions with one beginning November 3, while the other two start in January and March. Be sure to check out more pricing and date details here to get all the information. The complex also offers high school coed summer leagues and youth leagues for your young David Beckham or Hope Solo.

Garden Bowl

Almost every bowling alley has plenty of leagues to choose from, but we’ll highlight the Garden Bowl in downtown Detroit. With brand new lanes and a fun atmosphere, Garden Bowl has all types leagues for all level bowlers. Campus Martius Broomball

Campus Martius is one of the best parks Detroit has to offer, and ice skating at the rink in the winter is a popular activity for many metro Detroiters. A popular sport on the ice that isn’t hockey is broomball, and Campus Martius will give you the opportunity to show off your skills. The rink is offering two different coed broomball leagues this upcoming winter with early bird registration ending on November 11, and regular registration ending on January 2.

The Coliseum Racquet Club

The Coliseum Racquet Club in Taylor features basketball courts, racquetball courts, and ping pong tables for your competitive needs.
