Tap Rooms

Grab a Pint at a Tap Room in Southeast Michigan

The state of Michigan definitely knows its craft beer and Metro Detroit plays a big role in the microbrew scene. There is no shortage of breweries in southeast Michigan, many of which have tap rooms. Atwater Brewery, located in Detroit, recently renovated its tap room, and it is one establishment you are going to want to check out.

There are currently 20 beers on tap, including Atwater’s flagship beers, Dirty Blonde and Vanilla Java Porter. There are also winter seasonal beers available, which are the Winter Bock and Christmas Ale. As Chelsea Iadipaolo, marketing liaison at Atwater Brewery, explains below, there is something for every beer drinker here.

“That’s one of our brewery’s best qualities. Our top three beers are completely different, one is wheat ale that is easy to drink and light in flavor, Vanilla Java Porter is a robust porter, but slightly sweet and approachable and Hop-A-Peel is a big and bold IPA. We also make a wheat ale called Whango that everyone seems to love.”

The Dirty Blonde (wheat/spiced ale) and Vanilla Java Porter (English porter/spiced ale) are available year round and, along with many other Atwater beers, can be found at many local stores/bars. Growlers are available for purchase at the tap room, along with refills.

Atwater also offers a mug club! Membership costs $35 for the year, or $150 for a lifetime. Members receive a 20-ounce mug to take home and get their first fill free. Members also receive 15 percent off of all merchandise, $2 off of growler fills and are the first to try new beers and receive invites to special, limited seating events.

“Atwater has been in Detroit almost 20 years with no plans of leaving, but (we) are excited to take our beers everywhere,” Iadipaolo said. “We are launching a biergarten and tap house in Grand Rapids late spring/summer 2016 and are very excited to join the west side beer scene!”
