Tastings, Strolling Buffets and More: Upcoming Wine Events in the D

Do you prefer chardonnay, pinot noir, riesling or merlot? Or, perhaps you are a wine aficionado and love all types. Whatever your preference is, you can rejoice in knowing that there are a few wine-tasting events coming up in the metro Detroit area. Here are some places to keep in mind:

Karl’s Cabin

Karl’s Cabin, one of my personal favorites, hosts its annual Wine Tasting and Strolling Buffet event on Wednesday, May 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Plymouth. This year marks the fourth year of the event, and it pairs delicious dishes with 30 wines from all over the world. Food items include Lemon Artichoke Chicken, Northern Jambalaya, Meatloaf with Braised Cabbage, Whitefish Pate and much more.

Paesano

Also on May 18, Ann Arbor’s Paesano hosts The Rat Pack Wine Show. The show features six Italian winemakers, including Massimo Piccin of Podere Sappio, Luca Costa of Tenute Costa and Robert Di Filippo of Di Filippo Wines. Patrons can walk around tasting the wines, enjoy appetizer spreads and even meet the vintners.

Rattlesnake Club

Don’t miss the Michigan Wine Showcase on Monday, May 23 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at this classy establishment on the riverfront in Detroit. Master sommeliers Claudia Tyagi and Madeline Triffon, as well as 20 other Michigan wineries, will be at the event, which includes samplings and appetizers.

Also, three days prior, is the Chef’s Spanish Wine and Tapas Dinner on Friday, May 20.

Cork Wine Pub

Cork, located in Pleasant Ridge, has wine tastings every Tuesday.  For a mere $10, patrons can sample carefully selected wines, and purchase them by the bottle. You can participate from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. weekly. Cork also has an outdoor patio to enjoy!

Additionally, Motor City Wine hosts monthly tastings. So, all of you avid wine-drinkers or aspiring sommeliers should be pretty set for the foreseeable future.
