Vintage Tatse: Four Antique Shops to Visit

Vintage Taste: 4 Antique Shops to Visit

Antique, noun, defined as a “collectible object such as a piece of furniture or work of art that has high value because of its considerable age.” Antiques can actually be really cool pieces to add to your home for some vintage flair. Whether you’re an antique collector, casual antique buyer or looking to venture to a shop for the first time, metro Detroit offers options for everyone.

Eastern Market Antiques

This two-story building is almost like a maze of gorgeous antiques, with several rooms on each floor. Several vendors make their way to Eastern Market Antiques, and sell all kinds of items from clothing and furniture to jewelry and trinkets. Different styles of furniture, such as Victorian to mid-century modern are available. A heads up, the shop is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Town Peddler

Located in Livonia, the Town Peddler is an absolute favorite among the locals, evidenced by its first-place wins on the Detroit A-List and Vote 4 the Best contests. The 24,000-square-foot building offers more than 400 craft and antique booths, a variety of hand-crafted items and brings in new items pretty much every day. Vintage clothing, collectibles, thoughtful gifts and more can be found here.

Oddfellows

Berkley’s Oddfellows is truly an antique shop in the sense that it sells antique items in one of Berkley’s oldest locations, Oddfellows Hall. The 9,000-square-foot hall was built in the 1920s, and now serves as the antique mall. With close to 50 quality dealers, Oddfellows offers items such as home décor, collection items, movie set designs, clothing, porcelain and crystal. Hour Detroit also cited Oddfellows as a top antique shop in its “Best Of” series.

Fred’s Unique Furniture and Antiques

With locations in Warren and Detroit (as well as Gladwin), Fred’s Unique Furniture and Antiques is truly that, unique. As one of the largest buyers and sellers of furniture in the Midwest, the store offers an extremely diverse selection. Just going into the store can be an adventure filled with thousands of items to pluck through. If you’re looking for antique furniture, this is the place to go. It has also been named in the Vote 4 the Best Contest as ‘Best Furniture Store.”

Dare to be different and decorate your home with vintage items that nobody else will have. You’ll be the talk of the town. Until next time, metro Detroiters.
