EDM Concerts

Where You Should Be When the Beat Drops in Metro Detroit

Movement rocked Detroit a couple weeks ago with its impressive lineup of both well-known and up-and-coming Electronic Dance Music (EDM) talents. If you feel slightly bummed that the show is over, fear not. The metro Detroit area has some awesome EDM concerts scheduled that are sure to heat up your summer. So now that your eardrums have recovered from Movement, here are five EDM concerts we think will get you moving all over again.

Illenium (6/21)

Illenium is a relative newcomer to the EDM scene, but since his official debut in 2013 he has gained some noticeable popularity. The DJ has made appearances at some Chainsmokers shows and has two Dance Chart hits in 2017 with “Feel Good” and “Sound of Walking Away.” The young producer said he was influenced by Bassnectar and released his first full-length album, Ashes, back in February 2016.

Bondax (7/13)

The English EDM duo, Bondax, has been on the scene since 2011, but they recently released their first single in almost three years in the form of “Ah I See.” The duo is known for a genre-bending sound which has made for fun concerts and festival appearances all across Europe. They will only be making a few appearances in North America, with one of them being at the Grasshopper Underground in Ferndale on Thursday, July 13.

Grum (7/21)

Graeme Shepherd, better known by his stage name, Grum, has been on the EDM scene since 2007 and continues to be a force in the industry. The artist is known for his catchy singles and his unique remixes of popular songs. The DJ was named the best electronic artist by iTunes in 2010 and his newest album, Human Touch, is expected to be released later this year.

Protohype (8/4)

If you like to hear the bass drop, then there are few better shows than the one Protohype puts on. Max Hype, the man behind Protohype, has become a staple in the bass music community and his shows always live up to the “hype.” The show is part of the Puppycrew Charity Show which takes $1 from every ticket sold and donates it to a no-kill animal shelter. Protohype will also match all donations made.

Gigamesh (8/24)

Gigamesh, a three-time multi-platinum artist, is known in the EDM community for his fun remixes and smooth production skills. You might know him for his remix of Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” or from producing Mike Posner’s “Cooler Than Me.” Either way, he’ll bring the energy and have you dancing at Necto in Ann Arbor on Thursday, August 24.

So whether you’re looking for big bass drops or catchy dance music, there’s plenty of great concerts in metro Detroit that are sure to keep you moving after Movement.
