45 Bands, 4 Venues, 3 Days: Get Ready for the First Ever Ferndale Spring Fever

Coming at a perfect time to cure those winter blues, the first ever Ferndale Spring Fever will rock four of Ferndale’s exciting venues starting on Thursday, April 25. The three day festival will take over The Loving Touch, The Magic Bag, Otus Supply, and New Way Bar with a mix of both national and local acts.

45 bands will be on hand, including the likes of Black Lips, Born Ruffians, She Wants Revenge, and Tokyo Police Club. The national headlining bands will be paired with talented local acts, which event promoter Jesse Shepherd-Bates thinks represents what makes the Detroit music scene great.

“Ferndale Spring Fever is geared to people who love going to Little Caesars Arena for a concert, but will have more of a local flavor. Putting these local bands with national bands promotes Detroit’s great music scene,” Shepherd-Bates said.

Several up-and-coming acts will share the stage with the aforementioned headliners. Acts such as Ronny Tibbs, Vazum, and The Handgrenades  will hit the stage and get to share their music with potential new fans.

The idea of the festival came about because Shepherd-Bates thinks Ferndale is a great walking town and wanted to emphasize the special local venues in downtown Ferndale.

“The Hamtramck Music Festival does a great job with their festival, we just wondered why Ferndale never got anything like that going,” Shepherd-Bates said, “We want to bring the circus to town with touring acts and then highlight the talent in the area by getting local support.”

The four venues are located in the heart of downtown Ferndale and offer a great way to experience the city as spring starts. Woodward Ave. Brewery, The Emory, and Howe’s Bayou will be on hand at the concerts providing great food and drinks.

Tickets are available through Eventbrite with a three-day pass going for $70, and a single day admission for $25. All of the venues have limited capacities, so be sure to get to the shows you want to see early.

Ferndale Spring Fever’s Facebook page is sure to be abuzz over the next few weeks with exciting announcements and artist profiles. You can find ticket information, including weekend pass information, on the event’s official website.
