Everyone wants peanuts or Cracker Jacks at a baseball game, but have you ever wanted to sleep out on the field after a game?
Your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers and the United Shore Professional Baseball League (USPBL) are giving you and your family that opportunity at Jimmy John’s Field on Saturday, August 10. The event is free for all families that register by noon on Wednesday, August 7.
After the completion of the night’s game between the Westside Wholly Mammoths and the Utica Unicorns, your family can campout on the field after the game. The evening will be filled with free entertainment, activities, and a movie shown on the big screen. You can also enjoy a continental breakfast the next morning.
Owner, founder and CEO of USPBL Andy Appleby thinks the event is perfect for families and is a highlight for the league every year.
“We all remember looking forward to sleeping outside whether that’s in your backyard, a friend’s yard or at a campsite, and we want to capture that feeling,” Appleby said. “It’s such a beautiful thing to see so many wonderful families spend the night at the ballpark and we want everyone to have a great time.”
The event will also feature post-game base running, a chance to be chosen as honorary bat boy/girl, and a chance to throw out the first pitch. All families must register before the event and tickets will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and you can visit Will Call on day of event for ticket pickup.
“It’s the heart of the summer and we are looking forward to putting on the best possible show for our fans and families,” Appleby said. “This year is better than ever and we hope to keep giving families great experiences at Jimmy John’s Field.”
