It’s chocolate season! We are just a few days away from Valentine’s Day, which means candy stores are busy, couples are making plans and restaurants are getting booked up. Whether you are married, in a relationship or single and ready to mingle, I think we can all agree that candy makes us happy no matter the scenario. Check out a few places below to make your significant other’s day or to get your own candy fix.
Michele Bezue of the Detroit Marshmallow Co. will open her new confections store/café in Grosse Pointe Park this weekend. Tickets can be purchased online for SweetLove Detroit, the store’s grand opening featuring several events. This would surely be a Valentine’s Day date to remember. The café offers coffee, tea, hot chocolate, waffles, lunch options, Valentine’s Day brunch and, of course, all kinds of candies and desserts.
JoJo’s Treats N Sweets, located in Plymouth’s Old Village Square, makes premium chocolates. If you’re looking to give your significant other high quality chocolate, keep this place in mind. JoJo’s offers caramels and tortoises, truffles and marshmallow treats. In addition, the candy store makes several creatively designed cake pops! Say no more.
Residing in Troy, Ingram’s Candies serves hand-crafted candies and confections, and uses all natural ingredients. Toffees, salted caramels, peanut butter cups, peanut clusters and much more are available here. Try Ingram’s “Movie Mix,” a bed of salted pretzels covered with the store’s Butter Caramel, dipped in three kinds of chocolate. Yum!
This Clawson shop offers that nostalgic feeling of being a kid in a candy store again. It is Michigan’s largest retail candy store and has pretty much anything you would want. Candy can be purchased by the pound or by the piece, and Doc Sweets’ candies date back all the way from the early 1900s to today! You can search the online store to find whatever you’re looking for.
Other candy stores to consider:
- Roger’s Bulk Candy & Ice Cream, Eastpointe
- The Rocket Candy & Novelties, Ferndale and Ypsilanti
- The Candy Trail, Plymouth
- Detroit Chocolat, Shelby Township
As you can see, there are more than enough options to satisfy both your sweet tooth and your partner’s. If you don’t have one of those, then more for you! Happy Valentine’s Day, y’all.
