Cast a Line at These Beautiful Fishing Spots in the D

While you can certainly enjoy the best parties and events Metro Detroit’s lakes have to offer, there are plenty of other more relaxing ways to enjoy our beautiful lakes. One of the most peaceful ways is to cast a line and relax with some friends while you fish. The calm of the water, the warmth of the summer air and the thrill of reeling in a big one are just some of the reasons to go fishing this summer. To help you take advantage of the summer while it’s still here, here are five of the best fishing spots in the D.

Kensington Lake

One of the more popular fishing spots in Southeast Michigan, Kensington Lake is a beautiful and plentiful spot to cast a line. You’ll be able to find Bass, Bluegill, Northern Pike, Black Crappie, Yellow Perch and more. Be sure to mind where you are fishing as there is no fishing permitted on Kingfisher Lagoon or at posted areas of Wildwing Lake.

Milliken State Park and Harbor

Described on the website as a 31-acre green oasis in the midst of downtown Detroit, Milliken State Park and Harbor has become a popular place to fish since it opened to the public in 2004. The RiverWalk passes through the park along the Detroit River with numerous fishing platforms for you to enjoy. Be sure to see all of the great events the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy has coming up this summer on their website.
