Whether you come for the beautiful artwork, delicious food, or just as an excuse to enjoy the weather, there’s nothing quite like Metro Detroit art fairs in the summer. Communities from Berkley, Ferndale, to Ann Arbor dedicate their streets to throwing great art fairs the whole family can enjoy. Here are just a few of the great upcoming art fairs taking place throughout the summer in Metro Detroit!
Downtown Plymouth and Kellogg Park will transform into a vibrant and bustling art fair as Art in the Park returns on Friday, July 12. The second largest art fair in Michigan will feature over 400 artists from around the country with everything ranging from paintings, sculptures, ceramics, woodwork and much more. For details on kid friendly events and more activities on hand, be sure to check out the event’s website.
The 3rd annual Berkley Street Art Fest returns to Coolidge Highway on Saturday, July 13. The free festival is centered around a friendly chalk-art contest along with real-time mural making, live music, street performers, food trucks and more. If you are interested in competing in the Chalk Artist contest, make sure to register you and your team before the festival.
Four fairs for the price of one, the Ann Arbor Art Fair returns for a four day weekend full of a wide variety of art starting on Thursday, July 18. The Original Ann Arbor Street Fair, State Street Fair, The Guild Summer Art Fair, and the South University Art Fair will take over downtown Ann Arbor for plenty of art and live music. If you need a map to visualize where everything is going to be, you can find one here.
Kicking off Frankenmuth’s floral season is the community’s Flower Festival on Friday, August 2. The town will feature breathtaking floral displays, Sunflower U-Pick opportunities, a Sunflower Color Run, and much more. For more information on the family friendly events, including tickets to exclusive dinners and U-Pick flower sessions, be sure to visit the Eventbrite page.
Taking place on the literal last weekend of summer, the 12th annual DIY Street Fair in Ferndale returns for one last summer celebration starting on Friday, September 20. Music, food, and plenty of art can be enjoyed all weekend at this free festival. Even better, the street fair supports numerous fantastic Metro Detroit organizations and fundraisers, which you can find more information on here.
