If you’re already feeling the holiday spirit, chances are you’re ready to put up your Christmas tree as soon as possible. There are two ways to do Christmas trees: the faux way and the authentic pine, hike-with-an-axe-into-a-forest correct way.
Here are a few Christmas tree farms in southeast Michigan to consider this holiday season:
The organically grown trees are never treated with pesticides or chemicals, and you’ll find varieties including Fraser Fir, Douglas Fir and Blue Spruce. The Wreath Shop offers festive accessories, including wreaths, garland and tree stands.
The Oakland tree farm is open through Wednesday, Dec. 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and noon to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Keep in mind, only cash or checks are accepted!
This Chelsea tree farm is open through Saturday, Dec. 19, where you’ll find White Spruce and Korean Fir trees. In addition to choose and u-cut Christmas trees, enjoy wagon rides and a cup of hot chocolate or coffee as you browse the gift shop.
Urquhart’s is open from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, noon to 5 p.m. on Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Major credit cards are accepted.
Located in Highland, the 118-acre farm offers both u-cut and pre-cut trees, including Canaan Fir, White Pine and Spruce. There is also a petting farm, wagon rides, and throughout the season, appearances by Santa Claus!
Broadview Christmas Tree Farm is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and you can save $2 by using this coupon. Cash and checks only.
You’ll find Douglas Fir, White Pine and Blue Spruce varieties at the New Boston Farm, ready to be cut and decorated! Fresh wreaths are also available for purchase.
If this is your first real Christmas tree rodeo and you can’t tell the difference between a Fraser Fir and a White Spruce, check out this handy chart. Cash and checks only.
These are just a few of the many Christmas tree farms in the Metro Detroit area. No matter which one you visit, pick a tall one!
