Metro-Detroit-Restaurant-Week-2018

Sample Metro Detroit’s Dining Scene with February Restaurant Weeks

“I want to try new things.”

It’s something we all say to ourselves, probably a lot. “New things” doesn’t have to mean bungee jumping or swimming with sharks. Dial back the extreme-o-meter and take a deep breath.

If you’re looking to try something new, why not try new food?

Ask and ye shall have! Metro Detroit has not one but three different cities hosting their own “Restaurant Weeks” throughout February.

“What’s a ‘Restaurant Week?’” you ask?

Restaurant Weeks are your chance to sink your teeth into a city’s food & beverage scene with special rates just for this special week dedicated to satisfying your taste buds.

Dearborn – Feb. 12-18

First up, Dearborn Restaurant Week features more than 30 participating restaurants. The menus are broken into three tiers of pricing: $10, $20 and $30. On their website, you can filter restaurant choices by selecting one of these price points or just view all of them at once. If you’re going for the $10 or $20 option, I recommend checking out La Fork, where you have your choice of different poutines, rice bowls, wraps and oh-so-delicious, melt-in-your-mouth crepes. Mmmmm.

On the $30 side of things, Big Fish serves a delicious three-course meal, complete with your choice of soup or salad, your choice of an entree (like the signature salmon) and a dessert. (Note: not picking the classic vanilla bean creme brulee makes you wrong).

Detroit – Feb. 16-25

Next up, Detroit Restaurant Week boasts slightly more expensive, but proportionally more delicious menu choices from the likes of Chartreuse Kitchen & Cocktails, La Lanterna and more. Broken into two tiers of pricing, $29 and $39, you can enjoy multi-course meals from places like Central Kitchen + Bar, where you’ll order your choice of soup, salad or calamari to start, followed by delicious entrees, like vegetarian tacos and braised short rib bolognese, and finally, your choice of peanut butter semifreddo or housemade sorbet.

Royal Oak – Feb. 23 – March 4

Rounding out this month of Restaurant Weeks is Royal Oak. More than 20 restaurants are offering three-course lunch and dinner menus for $15-$35 per person. While drinks aren’t included, beer fans will want to head over to Ale Mary’s for a pint of craft beer to go with their meal. Your choice of entree (Drunken Chicken Philly, Beer Cheese Burger or Vegan Impossible Burger) will determine the price of your whole meal, which also includes chicken tortilla soup or a house salad and an ISO bourbon aged cheesecake.

Royal Oak Restaurant Week has also partnered with Tito’s Handcrafted Vodka, so each participating restaurant will feature a different cocktail made with Tito’s.

Where will you be expanding your culinary palate? With each Restaurant Week spread out throughout the month of February, this might be the greatest month of metro Detroit dining you will see in a long time. Get to chompin’!
