Carmina Burana and The Medium

Take a trip to the Detroit Opera House in October for two wonderful operas.  Carmina Burana is a beautiful opera composed by Carl Orff as a grand work for chorus and orchestra. The work opens and closes with the well-known movement “O Fortuna.” In addition to Carmina, audiences will be treated to the Medium, Menotti’s one-act opera, that tells the story of Madame Flora, a fortune teller who cheats her customers by holding fake séances. However, during the course of one of the séances, she feels the touch of a ghost and it drives her to insanity. The operas will be sung in Latin, German and English with English translations projected above the stage. Show times are Saturday, October 15 at 7:30 pm, Wednesday October 19 at 7:30 pm, Friday October 21 at 7:30 pm, Saturday October 22 at 7:30 pm and Sunday October 23 at 2:30 pm. Tickets range from $51-$111 and can be purchased by visiting
