Detroit Derby Girls

March 19, 2011
Cobo Arena, Detroit

For the past few years Roller Derby has really pushed and shoved its way into the sporting world. This American-invented contact sport has grown tremendously and continues to gain popularity with each lap around the track. The game is played with two teams roller skating around an oval track.  Points are scored by each team’s “Jammer.” The Jammer must pass the opposing team, and its blockers in order to score a point for their team.

The Detroit Derby Girls have a pretty intense following in the city. Made up of four teams, The D-Funk Allstars, Pistolwhippers, Detroit Pistoffs, and The Devils Night Dames, these girls mean business. The Detroit Derby Girls will be doing battle at 8pm at Cobo Arena in Detroit on March 19th.
