Get outside and enjoy nature June 11-12 in Farmington Hills. As part of an effort to get families to enjoy the outdoors, the city’s recreation department and the local Mayor’s Youth Council are hosting the annual Great Farmington Hills Campout in Heritage Park, located on Farmington Road between Ten and Eleven Mile Roads.
Participants may choose to come for an evening of fun outdoor activities or rent a camp site for the night. Free activities running from 1 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, include an outdoor expo, Nature Center tours, outdoor hikes, and camp fire songs and activities.
With a $25 reserved camp site, participants get dinner Saturday evening and breakfast Sunday morning.
Sponsors of the event hope it will spur families to learn more about the outdoors, and that those who don’t reserve a camp site will perhaps go home and camp in their own back yards.
Reserve a camp site by calling (248) 473-1800 or visiting www.F2H.org.
