Attention, cold beer drinkers!

The 2nd Annual Wild West Summer Beer Fest will be held at the Royal Oak Farmers Market, 316 E. 11 Mile Rd., on Saturday, June 22.

The event begins at 6 p.m. and features over 80 local and international craft beers. Since one should never drink on an empty stomach, there will be gourmet food pairings from several local restaurants, including: KouZina, Café Muse, Red Fox English Pub, Garden Fresh Gourmet, Peteet’s Famous Cheesecakes, Fifth Avenue, Treat Dreams, Lockhart’s BBQ, Blackfinn and Royal Oak Brewery.

And what’s a party without live entertainment? To complete the festive atmosphere, the event will feature live tunes from local musicians. Ferndale-based band Ryan Dillaha and The Miracle Men and Ann-Arbor based Royce Haas of rock n’ roll band Scarecrow Jones will be on stage all night for your listening pleasure.

Enough room for your pets. Enough room for everything they need. See why Suburban is perfect for you… and your four-legged friends.

The biggest selling point of Wild West Summer Beer Fest isn’t even the beer itself, nor is it the food or music. It’s the fact that 100 percent of all proceeds from ticket sales will go to Camp Casey, a local horseback riding charity for children with cancer. Not only do you get to enjoy an evening out, but you will also bring a smile to a child’s face.

The Detroit Bus Company is involved in the action, and will be providing shuttles to the event for $15, or a combo admission ticket/shuttle ride for $55. Buses are BYOB, but you’re still expected to be on your best (read: respectful!) behavior.

Tickets to Wild West Summer Beer Fest can be purchased online. A general admission ticket costs $40 ($45 at the door) and a VIP ticket gets you into the event an hour early, plus access to VIP samples for $60 ($65 at the door). If you plan on attending for the food and not the drinks, a Sober Sally designated driver ticket is available for $10.

Keep in mind, at last year’s inaugural Summer Beer Fest, tickets sold out at the door in a matter of minutes. Having said that, you’re better off purchasing them in advance and avoiding major heartbreak!
