Ring in the new year like never before at the Michigan Mitten Drop in Canterbury Village on Thursday, December 31st. Your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers are proud to sponsor this one-of-a-kind New Year’s Eve event where a 6-ft. illuminated “mitten” in the shape of the Great Lake State will be dropping 80 feet.
Hosted by Shannon from the Mojo in the Morning show on Channel 955, the night kicks off at 4 p.m. with tons of entertainment. The Kids Zone will feature live entertainment, kids karaoke, kids trivia competition, a fire show, horse-drawn carriage rides and their favorite characters, like Ghostbusters Detroit, come to life.
There will also be adult beverages, hot chocolate, s’mores, food trucks and more.
To ring in the New Year a little early for the little ones, the Mitten Drop will happen at 6:30 p.m. A 6-ft. Illuminated mitten will be lowered from 80 ft. in the air as the crowd counts down to the New Year.
Tickets are $5 each (parking is also $5). Children under the age of two, military and veterans will be admitted for free. Canterbury Village is adhering to all CDC guidelines with regards to COVID-19 including contactless online ticketing, holding the event outdoors, maintaining a limited capacity, enforcing social distancing rules and enforcing a mask/face covering mandate.
