If you have been in the Metro Detroit area the past few weeks, there is no doubt about it… summer is here. And it has already been a hot one! There are plenty of ways to keep cool during the summer months and most of us know the staples… pool, lake, sprinkler, etc.  But there is another way to refresh yourself and get some of that energy out of your kids at the same time. Check out your local water park!

Many Metro Detroiters don’t realize the abundance of water parks that are available in the area. There are 18 different water parks within 50 miles of Detroit. Some are indoor parks, but most are outdoor and there may be one right in your neighborhood.

Water parks are a great place for the family to spend a hot summer day. From water slides and wave pools to lazy rivers, each park differs as to the amenities they have to offer. This is also part of the fun. Head to one pool one day and another the next. You can find new adventures right around the corner.

Lazy rivers, where guests can float or swim with the current are a glorious way to spend your day. Parents, you don’t have to feel left out of the fun… You may not be up for the 60-foot water slide, but the lazy river offers a peaceful way to spend your afternoon. Plus, it allows for some great bonding time with your kids. There is nothing better than floating in a tube, your little one on your lap, laughing and enjoying a beautiful summer day.

Some of the water parks have splash pads that are geared toward the younger kiddies. These fun areas have jets of water shooting out of the ground as well as various structures and are safe for those little ones who may not be strong swimmers. Kids can frolic and play the day away without a care in the world.

Whatever floats your boat, you can find it at one of the many water parks that are located around the Metro Detroit Area.
