DIY Street Fair Returns to Ferndale this Weekend

By: Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers | September 14, 2016

The DIY Street Fair returns to Ferndale this weekend for another celebration of art, music, food, and fun! This year’s free event will begin on Friday at 6 p.m. and will run all day Saturday and Sunday.

Located between East 9 Mile and Troy Street, the event will have over 140 artist booths and is expected to draw over 75,000 people. DIY will feature everything from graffiti art, to folk art and even woodworking pieces. The artists are selected through a careful juried process where the DIY Artistic Committee chooses a wide array of original, handcrafted, quality art and products from the area’s most talented makers.

Along with all of the art, there is going to be plenty of great musical acts hitting the stage. Some of the acts in this year’s lineup include the Detroit Cobras, Fawnn, Stone Clover, and David Bierman Overdrive.

A street fair would not be complete without some delicious food and the DIY Street Fair has compiled some of the best food vendors in the area. Mac Shack, El Guapo, Detroit BBQ Company, Shredderz, The Pita Post, and Treat Dreams! are just some of the food options to enjoy over the weekend.  DIY also has you covered for your craft beer and wine needs, as there will be a wine garden and a beer garden, along with multiple beer tents throughout the fair.

When you have the tools to do it yourself, nothing can stop you from turning your vision into reality. Trailblazer offers advanced storage options for a small SUV that is versatile, powerful, and ready to get the job done

As proud sponsors, Your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers will also be out and about at the DIY Street Fair. Stop by the booth and take part in the Cornhole tournament where you can win Chevy gear, gift certificates, and specials from DIY vendors. Tournaments will be held Saturday and if you want to participate be sure to send in an inquiry, with your name and phone number, to mike@thewabferndale.com.

There’s plenty to check out at this year’s DIY Street Fair, so be sure to visit the website and Facebook page to keep up on the latest updates.
