Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Present Dino Stroll Event

By: Karen Dybis | April 28, 2021

Walking among the dinosaurs may sound like something you can only do in a Hollywood blockbuster movie, but a new event coming to Metro Detroit allows dinosaur fans of all ages to experience what it was like to hang out with the mighty T-Rex, cunning Velociraptors and impressive Stegosaurus as well as donate to a good cause.

The Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers is the presenting sponsor of Dino Stroll at Canterbury Village in Lake Orion from May 20-23 and May 28-30. This walking tour allows families to walk along, stand next to and even touch life-like and life-size animatronic dinosaurs that have moving heads, necks, tails and blinking eyes as well as realistic sounds.

The one-of-a-kind event will have almost 75 dinosaurs, many of which stand more than 25 feet tall and can stretch as far as 60 feet in length. The Dino Stroll takes participants from the Mesozoic Era with creatures from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods – incredible times when some of the world’s largest creatures roamed the planet.

Guests also will be able to become paleontologists and be able to explore and study skeletons, fossils and dinosaur eggs, even while climbing inside of them for photo opportunities. There will be entertainment by the Dino Band, various roaming dinosaurs to encounter during the stroll and more.

Families are always on the go, and the All-New Trailblazer combines safety, comfort and accessibility to fit your family's needs. Discover the available features that make Trailblazer an ideal family SUV.

This is the first time Canterbury Village is hosting this event and it is the latest outdoor “stroll” kind of activity that the family-focused shopping and entertainment venue is doing with the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers, said Canterbury Village owner Keith Aldridge.

These events are popular with families because they are held outdoors, are socially distanced and let everyone enjoy a fun event together, Aldridge explained, so he recommends people get their tickets sooner than later in case the event sells out.

“It’s been a lot of fun and rewarding at the same time” because of the giving-back aspect made possible through the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers, Aldridge said. “The Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers have been fantastic to work with and we look forward to working together on this event and many more. It’s great for families but it’s also great for these charities (MDCD) supports.”

Dino Stroll is special as well because it will include the annual “Pickups for Paws” charity drive to benefit Dog Aide, a community outreach program that provides assistance and shelter intervention to dog owners in the City of Detroit experiencing financial hardship.

Since 2017, Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers has held its “Pickups for Paws” campaign in June at its 38 dealership locations, collecting dog food, treats, toys and other dog care items. This year, the campaign was expanded to include Canterbury Village for an early launch.

Starting May 20, Dog Aide donations can be brought to Canterbury Village, 2325 Joslyn Ct., Thursday–Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. during regular shopping hours and placed in the Chevy Silverado that will be on display inside the entrance of the Dino Stroll. Beginning June 1 and throughout the month of June, “Pickups for Paws” donations can be dropped off at any of the 38 Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers.

Tickets for Dino Stroll start at $16.99 each; children under 2 (23 months or younger), military and veterans are free. A contactless ticketing system will be in place with all tickets available online and for advance purchase only. Limited capacity sessions will be offered with timed tickets available starting at 10am and taking place every half hour, through 8 p.m.

Canterbury Village located in Lake Orion is a designated historic landmark in the State of Michigan and has been owned and operated by the Aldridge family since 1993. It extends 21 acres on what was once part of the old Scripps Farm and formerly Wildwood Farms. The original Wildwood Farm buildings have all been carefully restored, while preserving an important chapter in Michigan’s history.

Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers is giving away a four pack of tickets to the Dino Stroll as well as a $100 Visa gift card and a free-parking pass for the 8 p.m. May 20 event.
