The official last date of Summer has passed and while it may officially be Fall in Michigan, we still have the great weather to enjoy the beauty of this great state (just dress for the weather!). What better way to take it all in than with a camping trip? Whether you’re in the mood for a little seclusion or prefer a place with activities and amenities, you don’t have to go far in Metro Detroit to find a fantastic campground.

Haas Lake

With a focus on RV camping, Haas Lake has been a hotspot for campers in southeast Michigan for years. They have 494 sites with water and electric hookups, four spring-fed lakes for fishing, a beach for swimming, a general store, a pavilion for hosting events, a two-hole golf course, basketball courts, a playground for kids and more. Reservations just opened for the 2020 camping season so be sure to grab yourself a spot or check out their rates for the remaining 2019 season.

Proud Lake Recreation Area

From transporting food and goods to having enough room for pets and family, owning the right SUV is essential for pet owners. See the available features that make the Chevy Tahoe a pet lover's dream.

Located on Huron River in Oakland County, Proud Lake Recreation Area is home to 4,700 acres of nature. What this amounts to is a plethora of activities to enjoy on your next camping trip. You can rent a boat, ride a horse, go fishing, take a hike through the woods, go hunting (during permitted times), ride your bike and more. From a “Camper Cabin” to the “Group Use Area,” there are four main campgrounds that can provide the experience you are looking for.

Detroit Greenfield RV Park

We mentioned Detroit Greenfield RV Park in our article on local RV parks, but with so much to do here, we thought it’d be worth mentioning it again. You can go paddle boating, mini-golfing, swimming, fishing, rent a banana bike, check out the gift shop and take a spin on the 90-foot water slide! If you don’t make it out here this year, set a reminder for next spring to check it out.

Camp Dearborn

Whether you’re in the mood for a rugged camping experience with just a tent or prefer the amenities of a rustic cabin, Camp Dearborn in Milford has what you need. Here, you will also find athletic fields, tennis courts, picnic areas, lakes for swimming and fishing, a zip line, mini-golf and regulation golf. They also have special events year-round, like Halloween Weekends at Camp Dearborn.
