Indulge in these Decadent Dishes in Metro Detroit

It’s time to indulge your taste buds. With winter acting like a petty friend that storms back into the room to have the last word, all of us in metro Detroit deserve a little comfort food. From flavorful barbeque to freshly made sweet treats, plan your next meal with some of these decadent options in mind.

Slows Bar BQ

What could be more decadent than a slab of mouth-watering barbeque ribs? How about a smoky beef brisket or apple BBQ glazed chicken? Slows Bar BQ in Detroit has solidified its place as the go-to BBQ spot for locals and tourists alike for good reason. All barbeque meals come with two sides. I recommend the mac-n-cheese and the sweet potato mash.

Kuzzo’s Chicken & Waffles

It’s right there in the name. A trip to Kuzzo’s for a variety of chicken and waffle combinations is the key to a happy stomach. Whether you prefer chicken breast, thigh or drumstick, you’ll be hard-pressed to not find a combination for you. If you’re feeling really adventures (and hungry), try the Big Pappa, which may as well be a multi-course meal by itself, and thank me later.

Jay’s Stuffed Burgers

What if you took your favorite burger and instead of the toppings going on top of the burger patty, they were stuffed inside? That’s the concept behind Jay’s Stuffed Burgers in Plymouth. With 11 different burgers on the menu, like the Western Burger (sauteed peppers, fresh jalapenos, sharp cheddar, mushrooms, bacon and sweet onions), you’re in for a burger that will have you drooling so hard you’ll want to pack a bib.

The Jamaican Pot

This carryout-only restaurant in Detroit may not look like much, but one taste of its authentic Jamaican cuisine and you’ll be sure to come back for seconds. The pepper steak and jerk chicken are easy sells, but if you’re looking to try something new, the jerk oxtail has your name on it.

Sister Pie

Three words: salted maple pie. A bakery that makes all of their dough in-house daily, Sister Pie is located in Detroit’s West Village. The menu changes monthly but can be found online. This month (April 2018) promises new flavors of pie, large and small cookies, breakfast and lunch items. A sweet treat to finish off this decadent list.
