Pumpkin Carving, Trick-or-Treating & More: Halloween for Kids


We’re right in the middle of October, which means there are less than two weeks left of the greatest month of the year! Time is of the essence here, so if you want to make the most of Halloween season with the kids this year, check out some of these great events happening in Metro Detroit.

Brick or Treat at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan

LEGO and Halloween together in one place. What could be better? That’s right. LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Pontiac is holding a “Brick or Treat” every weekend in October this year. There will be Halloween-themed LEGO building activities, a scavenger hunt, costume parades, photo opportunities and more. Plus, if you dress up in a Halloween costume, you will receive 50% off the price of admission!

HarvestFest Detroit

Located on the Dequindre Cut Greenway near Eastern Market, HarvestFest is your chance at some free, family-friendly fun. On Saturday, October 27, you will be able to enjoy bounce houses, movies, trick-or-treating, pumpkin patches, airbrush tattoos, live music, hayrides and more. Plus, HarvestFest is holding a food drive, so bring a few non-perishable food items to donate.

BOO-Fest

After a successful first year, BOO-Fest is returning to Detroit courtesy of the Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit. Happening on Halloween night, BOO-Fest will have food trucks, games and treats for everyone. The event is free and each person will receive two food truck tickets upon entry.

Halloween Hoot

Now in its 23rd year, the Halloween Hoot in the Village of Beverly Hills is an all-day event filled with pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, storytime, cider and cookies. The pumpkin carving is from 12-2 p.m. while the trick-or-treating is from 6-8 p.m. along Hoot Trail. Trick-or-treaters must be accompanied by an adult.
