Metro Detroit’s Best Cover Bands and Upcoming Shows

Remember the good ol’ days where the top hits featured hard hitting guitar riffs and catchy hooks perfect to jam to in the car? It might feel like those days are over, but there are those who are trying to keep it alive and well, and they’re doing a pretty good job with it. So you might want to dig deep in your closet to find those vintage rock t-shirts and check out these Metro Detroit tribute bands.
Capturing the look and sound of the Fab Four, Shout! covers The Beatles’ early hits. The tribute band covers some of The Beatles’ classic hits such as “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” “She Loves You,” “I Saw Her Standing There,” and “Hey Jude.” To see these hits and many more be sure to check out the band’s upcoming concerts in Troy, Monroe, and Fenton.
One of Detroit’s first Bob Seger tribute acts, Lookin’ Back is a seven-piece band made of Detroit-area musicians dedicated to the music of Bob Seger. It might have been a long, long time since you’ve seen Elton John perform in person, but you have a chance to see all of his hits live thanks to Captain Fantastic. Capturing the eccentric spirit of the pop singer, the group plays all of Sir Elton John’s biggest hits. They have upcoming shows in St. Clair Shores, Waterford, and Brighton, which you can find more information about on their website.
Playing classic KISS songs from the 1970s, Detroit Rock City transports audiences back to the glory days of the classic rock band. Using authentic KISS costumes, stage effects, pyro explosions, and plenty of smashing guitars, the group aims for a fun and realistic KISS experience. You can catch the band at the Auburn Hills Amphitheatre on Friday, July 26 and at the Turtle Lake Resort on Friday, August 23.
The Mega 80’s aims to not cover not just one specific band, but instead an entire era of totally rad music. The retro party features all of your favorite 80’s rock and pop songs with all of the nostalgic fashion and attitude you love. The group consistently performs at the Magic Bag, with upcoming shows on Friday, July 26 and Saturday, August 3.
