For the past two years, we have provided annual recaps of the Metro Detroit food scene from the perspective of what you, our hungry readers, have enjoyed the most. As we approach 2019, that tradition continues.

Faithful to our great city, the Hudson’s-inspired Maurice salad was too good for you all to pass up. You also gorged yourself on pasties, Indian food and tacos. And, interestingly, you also wanted to know more about diet trends, such as the keto diet.

It turns out that a good pasty is pretty easy to come by in Metro Detroit. Whatever you like them filled with, be it meat, veggies or both,  there is a plentiful selection of spots to enjoy this English delight around town.

Rollin Stone Wood Fired Pizza opened its Brighton location in the Green Oak Village Place shopping area and continues to operate its food truck throughout Metro Detroit. Shimmy Shack’s first restaurant, located in Plymouth, is set to open in the coming weeks. The vegan Nosh Pit set up shop in Hamtramck and Wahlburgers now has a food truck you can reserve in Michigan for events.
