Self-care Through Mindfulness

When things feel overwhelming, it’s important to pause and reflect on those feelings. What is overwhelming you? What can you do to overcome it? Mindfulness is a key component to that. It’s all about living in the present and being aware of the moment, rather than constantly worrying about the past or the future.

There are many ways to practice mindfulness, from yoga to meditation, and plenty of places in Metro Detroit that offer services to help you achieve a more peaceful state of mind.

In an effort to promote the emotional wellbeing of people in Detroit, Mindful Detroit employs a variety of services for individuals and groups. They offer many classes on yoga, mindfulness, and how to incorporate these lessons in the work you might do with your clients/patients/students. They also teach some unique, sometimes one-off, classes.

Little Lotus

Located in Ferndale since 2013, Little Lotus is run by Heather Rae, a yoga instructor, meditation coach, and energy and body worker. She holds regular meditation classes at her studio, individually programmed to tackle common struggles faced by people every day. They include stress & anxiety, lack of sleep, overcoming obstacles, how to relax, and creating your own personal sanctuary. Meditative sessions can be done privately or in groups.
