One of the more versatile ingredients in cooking, mushrooms can be the star of just about any dish. Whether you’re looking to add meaty texture on a vegetarian plate, or just love the taste for what it is, you’re never far from a delicious mushroom forward meal. Here are five mushroom forward dishes in Metro Detroit you need to try!
If you’re looking for your pizza to be a little bold, there’s no better place to look than at Pie-Sci Pizza in Detroit. Their traditional Veggie D pizza is made with fresh mushroom, red onion, bell pepper, artichoke, and mozzarella. If you’re looking for something a little more robust check out their Are You Alfredo The Dark? pizza which has creamy alfredo sauce, chicken, fresh mushroom, mozzarella, and is topped with shaved parmesan cheese.
Two words: Mushroom. Burger. The Shroom Burger at Mercury Bar is topped with portobello, swiss cheese, and button mushrooms blending everything perfectly together. The Detroit establishment is known for filling and tasty burgers, along with a wide assortment of beers to wash them down.
Known for their unique variety of drinks, Jolly Pumpkin has a unique food menu too. The JP Burger comes with cremini mushrooms, while their mushroom & black bean sandwich is a spicy sandwich with pickled onions and chipotle mayo. Both are packed with plenty of punch and go great with many of their cocktails and beers on tap.
Featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients, The Brooklyn Street in Corktown has quickly become a breakfast/lunch hotspot. Their poutine selection offers vegan, classic, and breakfast fries, all topped with delicious mushroom gravy. The restaurant also throws pop-ups and other special events, so be sure to follow them on Facebook.
