Golden Jigger Awards to Stir Things Up at Willis Show Bar

It seems like Metro Detroit has continued to up its craft cocktail and beer game with each passing year. To commemorate that, Nick Drinks’ owner Nick Britsky is putting on an inaugural award show called the Golden Jigger Awards with the help of several local sponsors.

“This has been something I’ve been trying to do for years,” said Britsky. “We finally had the crew, equipment and momentum from the TV show, [Nick Drinks at Night], so we decided it was time.”

The awards show will take place Sunday, December 9th at Willis Show Bar in Detroit. Nominees have already been announced and the public can vote on their picks from now until Tuesday, Dec. 4 at midnight. Categories include Best Michigan Brand Launch, Best Beer Program, Best Craft Cocktail Bar, Best Whiskey Program and more.

[Picking the categories] was tough. We didn’t want the event to go on forever nor did we only want to focus on spirits,” Britsky said. “I tried to take individual pieces of the industry and break them down into people excelling at them.”

One highly-coveted award from the show will likely be the Best Bartender award. Nominees for that category include Brent Foster, Paul Fradeneck, Yani Moraitis Frye, Tara Jagodinski, Marlowe Johnson, Will Lee, David Miles-Cole Martinez, Kaytee Querro, Katrell Thomas, and Chas Williams.

Tickets to the event can be purchased through Eventbrite for $25 a piece. The fun starts at 6 p.m. with a performance from Michigan-based Exhaust Tones followed by the awards show at 7 p.m. Cocktails from title sponsor Copper & Kings American Brandy Company will be provided in addition to a cash bar and snacks.

And be sure to stick around for the whole show as Britsky teases a “top secret performance” at the end.

If you can’t attend in person, the Golden Jigger Awards will be broadcast live on Facebook and CMNTV on Monday, December 10 at 7 p.m.

Remember to drink responsibly and plan ahead with a designated driver or take advantage of one of these local designated driving services.
