Summer heat is no joke. Between the humidity and the sweltering temperatures, the people of Metro Detroit need a fun way to cool off and unwind after a long, hot day. Lucky for us, there are plenty of outdoor water parks with all kinds of water slides, waves pools, splash zones and more. Check out these outdoor water parks in Metro Detroit and plan your next trip.

Wayne County Family Aquatic Center

Located in Detroit, the Wayne County Family Aquatic Center is home to a wave pool, the children’s “Splish-Splash Land” filled with all kinds of nozzles and spouts that spray water, and two 23-ft. high water slides. One slide is designed for inner tubes, while the other is a body slide. The Wayne County Family Aquatic Center is also home to swim lessons for children ages three and up. Whether you’re learning to swim or speeding down the water slides, this park is a fun one for sure!

Splash n Blast – Kensington Park

Located on the shore of Kent Lake in Kensington Park is Splash n Blast where you’ll find two 240-foot long water slides and all manner of water cannons to spray your friends with in the spray park. Outside of Splash n Blast, there’s the beach of Kent Lake where you can enjoy a nice swim or some time in the sun.

Turtle Cove Family Aquatic Center – Lower Huron Metropark

Have you ever wanted to know what it feels like to have 300 gallons of water dropped on your head? At the Turtle Cove Family Aquatic Center, you can learn what that feels like or you can take a ride down one of two waterslides, relax after a long day in the lazy river or take a swim in the lap lanes of their zero-depth entry pool.

Waterford Oaks Waterpark

At the Waterford Oaks Waterpark, you’ll find a tropical wave pool with palm trees and bubbler fountains. Plus, there’s a children’s water playground with more than 30 interactive activities and a three-story group raft ride. All of the pools are heated and trained lifeguards are always on duty. A season pass is available for $59 ($49 for residents of Waterford).
