If you’re a fan of summer barbecues, discovering new bands, whiskey and the low price of free, then do we have the party for you.
Pig & Whiskey returns to downtown Ferndale for its 10th year starting on Friday, July 19. The three day festival will take place on 9 Mile and East Troy Street between The WAB and The Emory. The event is free to enter and all ages are welcome.
The neighborhood party will feature some of the best local BBQ, over 50 whiskeys, live music all weekend, and literally hundreds of barrels of beer. Associate Producer and Pig & Whiskey coordinator Jim Cohen believes that the curation of the music, BBQ, and drinks are what makes the event standout.
“I think what has made this event successful for 10 years is that we put such care into the curation to make sure it is a great experience for the community,” Cohen said. “The event keeps growing every year and I think it’s really the right festival in the right area.”
The curation is exceptional yet again this year as the restaurant list includes Smoke Ring BBQ, Red Wood Grill, Bad Brads BBQ, Woodpile BBQ Shack, Detroit BBQ Company and so many more. On the drink side of things, you can get ready to sample from a list of over 50 whiskeys, bourbons, and scotches including High West Whiskey, Old Forester, Russell’s Reserve and more.
Live music begins on Friday at 6 p.m. and will continue all day Saturday and Sunday. This year’s talent includes Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers, Laith Al-Saadi, The Verve Pipe, Michigan Rattlers, The Lows and more throughout the weekend.
Between the curation of food, the wide selection of drinks, and the non-stop music from the area’s best bands, Pig & Whiskey is a great way to celebrate the summer in Metro Detroit.
“It’s a simple event; a lot of drinks, a lot of music, a lot of fun. It’s a great event for anyone to enjoy,” Cohen said.
The festival will be updating their Facebook and Instagram pages with the latest announcements and news leading up to the event. You can find more detailed information on everything taking place on the Pig & Whiskey website.
