What is your happiest childhood memory? Was it the first time you rode a roller coaster? Was it the first movie you saw in a movie theater? Was it that time you and your best friend stayed up all night telling stories and having fun?
While these are all great memories to have, thousands of children may never experience a childhood like that.
In Southeast Michigan alone, 1 in 10 kids are sexually abused by the age of 18. 87,811 children are currently in families being investigated for child abuse and 15,000 children are in the foster care system.
While these statistics are hard to accept, they impact thousands of innocent children in Metro Detroit. But, there are organizations and people valiantly trying to put an end to child abuse.
Your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers are proud to support Pinwheels for Prevention, a campaign that raises awareness of child abuse. The pinwheel is the national symbol for child abuse prevention and represents a carefree childhood.
In honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, throughout the month of April, you can stop into a participating Metro Detroit Chevy Dealer to pick up your own pinwheel from our display. Take it home to proudly display it in your own pinwheel garden and help us put and end to child abuse.
If you aren’t able to visit a participating Dealership, these local organizations are doing great work to end child abuse in Metro Detroit:
