Warm the Hearts of Pediatric Patients During the Season of Giving

‘Twas the Season of Giving, when all thro’ the Dealers
Not a Chevy was stirring, not even a four-wheeler;
The Silverados were decorated at the dealership with care,
In hopes the Season of Giving would cause others to share;
The toys were nestled all snug in the truck bed,
Awaiting the cheer that was coming ahead

That’s right! The Season of Giving is upon us and, once again, your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers are partnering with The Bottomless Toy Chest to bring holiday cheer to pediatric cancer patients across southeast Michigan.

As a testament to the joy a new toy brought her own son during his cancer treatment, executive director Mickey Guisewite wanted to provide that same joy to other children receiving cancer treatments. Thus, The Bottomless Toy Chest was formed as a 501c(3) nonprofit organization in 2008 and has been providing new toys to pediatric cancer patients since. This year, they are projected to deliver more than 30,000 toys and activities, but they can’t do it without our help.

Just stop into a participating Metro Detroit Chevy Dealer, look for the Season of Giving Silverado truck, place new toys on the bed and that’s it! The campaign runs until December 13, 2017, and on December 14, all participating Silverados will take part in a caravan that will go from the dealerships to Bottomless Toy Chest warehouse where all of the new toys and activities will be donated to The Bottomless Toy Chest.

Season of Giving is just one way your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers are working to help those less fortunate. Earlier this year, your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers sponsored Gamers for Giving 2017, an annual fundraising event for Gamers Outreach, an organization that works to provide recreation to children in hospitals through video games. In January next year, a GO (Gamers Outreach) Kart will be donated to DMC Children’s Hospital in Detroit on behalf of the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers.

Looking back on 2017, Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers has also been a supporter of Capuchin Soup Kitchen’s Shower Program through Truckloads of Hope, local non-profit animal organizations through Pickups for Paws, the promotion of safe driving habits through Cruze In for a Cause and the promotion of wellness through The Health and Fitness Expo, benefitting The Fort Street Presbyterian Church Open Door Ministry. We can’t wait to see what 2018 brings!
