Metro Detroit is full of not only great spots to run, but worthwhile events to run in. Thanksgiving and the upcoming holiday season is all about giving back to those in need, and these upcoming runs help do just that. So lace up those running, or walking, shoes and check out these upcoming Thanksgiving 5Ks in the D.

Original A2 Turkey Trot (11/9)

The Original A2 Turkey Trot is an Ann Arbor staple and this year’s event kicks-off this Saturday, November 11 at Hudson Mills Metropark. The event includes a 5K, 10K, and an Iron Turkey run which combines the two races. Food Gatherers are the featured charity at the A2 Turkey Trot as they try to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes in the community.

2019 ICCS Turkey Trot (11/23)

The fifth annual ICCS Turkey Trot will take place at the Imlay City Christian Reformed Church on Saturday, November 23. Four different runs will take place including the 5K Helena Turkey Trot, 5K Helena Turkey Walk, 1 Mile Gobbler Gallop, and the Stuffing Strut Virtual 5K The event will also be collecting canned goods for the St. Paul Lutheran Food Pantry.

Mighty Gobbler 5K (11/28)

Race through Troy at the fifth annual Mighty Gobbler 5K on Thanksgiving morning. The races will begin at Lutheran Church of the Master and will run through the neighborhoods and roads of downtown Troy. The Mighty Gobbler has donated more than $12,000 to the community and this year’s charities include Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers, Troy People Concerned, and Micah 6 Community.

Turkey Trot Detroit (11/28)

Often referred to as “The Parade before The Parade,” the annual Turkey Trot Detroit is the perfect way to kickoff Thanksgiving Day. This year’s festivities will include a 10K, 5K, and 1 mile courses, along with two combination events, the Drumstick Double and Cranberry Combo. Turkey Trail Trot (11/28-11/29)

If you’re looking to get a little dirty on Thanksgiving, the Turkey Trail Trot at Stony Creek will take runners off the beaten path on Thanksgiving and Friday, November 29. The trails will also have rolling hills to challenge all runners during any of the 10K, 4 Mile, and 2 Mile races. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Meals on Wheels – OPC in Rochester.
