Finding a real, live Christmas Tree to take home and decorate is a special tradition. Sure, some people prefer the lack of maintenance required by an artificial tree, but there’s something about the fresh smell of a tree at Christmas time that is hard to pass up. Here’s where you can find your Christmas tree in Metro Detroit, but don’t wait or you might miss your perfect tree!
Open since 1977, Candy Cane Christmas Tree Farm in Oxford has decades of experience to bring you fresh, well-maintained trees every holiday season. Upon selecting one of their fir trees for purchase, Candy Cane will clean, wrap and trim the bottom of your tree, making it ready to take home. They also have custom wreaths and garlands to decorate the rest of your house with.
This “U-Cut” Christmas tree farm lets you search their orchard for the tree of your dreams. They provide a saw, free wagon rides to and from the tree fields and free tree cleaning and wrapping. They have a variety of tree species, such as blue spruce, Douglas fir and white pine.
At Braun’s Tree Farm in Ann Arbor, you can either pick your own tree to cut down from their 50-acre tree field or purchase a pre-cut Douglas fir, Fraser fir or concolor fir. Either way, Braun’s will clean, trim and wrap your tree for you to take home.
Located in Huron Township, the Huron Christmas Tree Farm holds 10,000 Douglas fir, Fraser fir, white pine, blue spruce and white spruce trees to choose and cut down yourself. Remember to bring cash or a check as they do not have any electricity and therefore can not process credit/debit cards.
First planted in 1988, Addison-Oaks Christmas Tree Farm is a 20-acre field owned and operated by the Rimi family. Addison-Oaks emphasizes eco-friendly farm management, which means they don’t ship their trees from somewhere else and they don’t use pesticides or other chemicals. They carry Fraser firs, Douglas firs, concolor firs, Colorado Blue spruces, Black Hills spruces and Norwegian spruces.
Located seven miles west of Ann Arbor, Urquhart’s Tree Farm offers pre-cut trees in addition to several tree fields. Take a wagon ride the fields and find the tree that’s perfect for your home. There’s also hot chocolate, coffee, a Christmas gift shop and more.
If you can believe it, Broadview Christmas Tree Farm is made up of 118 acres of Christmas trees. It’s so vast, you’re likely to see wildlife on your wagon ride to and from the fields. They also carry wreaths, refreshments, a heated barn to warm up in, gifts, a petting farm and more.
