Fishing is a great way to escape from all the chaos and commotion of your busy life. You can cast a line out into the water and enjoy the beauty of the nature around you.
With all of the inland lakes and flowing rivers that Michigan offers, there are some truly awesome spots to go fishing this summer. Here are four fishing spots you should check out:
The Detroit River offers anglers the opportunity to reel in a wide variety of species of fish, but the area is well-known for its walleye hot spots. Those familiar to the area can use landmarks to locate some of the best walleye hot spots. The Detroit River Princess Boat, Renaissance Center, and Belanger Park are all good spots that anglers should check out.
Lake St. Clair is a huge open-water lake that has plenty of access and room to fish. The lake is known for having an abundance smallmouth and largemouth bass, along with a good amount of pan fish.
The Stony Creek Lake Impoundment is part of the Stony Creek Metro Park and offers over 490 acres for anglers to enjoy. The lake is very shallow, but anglers are allowed to use most of the shoreline to fish, and there are designated fishing piers as well. Anglers can catch crappie, sunfish, northern pike, sucker, carp, and walleye.
One of the more popular fishing locations in southeast Michigan is Kensington Lake located in Kensington Metro Park. The lake offers great fishing locations off the shore or in the lake and anglers can catch bass, bluegill, northern pike, black crappie, and yellow perch.
