Food Trucks and Pop-Ups to Try this Winter

We’ve covered many new food trends that are beginning in the new year; from plant-based meat, to mood-boosting ingredients, and even collagen powders, there are plenty of healthy trends to try in 2020. Another way of keeping your diet exciting is by checking out food pop-ups or trucks nearby with speciality menus. So whether you’re looking for some fresh seafood, sushi, pasties, or unique vegan creations, check out these pop-ups and food trucks in the D!

Hazel, Ravines and Downtown: Hazel’s Crab Trap (through 2/16)
Hazel, Ravines and Downtown is bringing the waves into Detroit with its Hazel’s Crab Trap takeover now through Sunday, February 16. The ode to Gulf Coast fish houses includes a raw bar with oysters, snow crab, and shrimp with food shipped in daily from Florida. You can get that beach-like feel as well with their frozen margaritas, daiquiris, and boozy milkshakes.

Street Beet
Street Beet, a Detroit vegan food pop-up, focuses on vegan comfort food as they have featured food such as vegan cider and donuts, Kentucky FAKE chicken, and their McDaddy. The pop-up will be featured at Hazel, Ravines and Downtown with their “Not-So-Crabby Patty” on the menu. Street Beet is working on their next creations, Filet NO Fish and FAKE Fried Chicken Sando, so be sure to follow them on Facebook for more updates.

Motor City Pasty Company

Motor City Pasty Company
Bringing the Upper Peninsula delicacy to Metro Detroit, Motor City Pasty Company is a food truck that specializes in delicious pasties for any occasion. The truck will be popping up at Urbanrest, Gravel Capital, Kuhnhenn Brewing Co., and the Farmington Brewing Company over the next month. Dr. Sushi
What started as an underground sushi club in the summer of 2011, has evolved into a premiere sushi catering operation, Dr. Sushi. The sushi caterers also host a weekly pop-up at the Brooklyn Street Local in Corktown on Saturdays starting at 5 p.m. Urbanrest Brewing Company also hosts a Dr. Sushi pop-up every first Friday of the month where you can enjoy an a la carte menu of their fresh sushi.

Delectabowl Food Truck
Dishing out fresh-home cooked meats with craft toppings and signature sauces, Delectabowl Food Truck features comfort food that fits any diet. The food truck will be making an appearance at the Royal Oak Food Truck Rally on Wednesday, February 12, which is taking place at the Royal Oak Farmers Market. The company also caters for any type of event, so be sure to check out their website for more information.
