The most important date night of the year is fast approaching. In a city bursting at the seams with exceptional food and romantic settings, Valentine’s Day is a cause for celebration. This year, don’t wait until the last minute to lock down a table at one of Metro Detroit’s hottest culinary destinations. We’re here to help select the picture-perfect setting for you and your special someone.

Oak and Reel

Oak and Reel is one of several new restaurants receiving rave reviews in Detroit’s quickly-developing Milwaukee Junction neighborhood. The menu, focused on remarkably fresh seafood, seasonal vegetables, and exceptional wine, is perfect for a romantic night for two. Order à la carte, or enjoy the chef’s tasting menu – full of surprises from the kitchen – for $100 per person. Make sure to arrive early and grab a cocktail at the gorgeous bar prior to your seating.

Assaggi Bistro

Celebrating twenty years in the heart of downtown Ferndale, Assaggi serves up an indulgent fusion of French, Italian, and Mediterranean flavors in an understated, intimate environment. While it’s certainly too cold to enjoy the beautiful patio – a hit during the summer months – the cozy dining room provides the ambiance required for a romantic spark. You can’t go wrong on this menu, but if you’ve never been, go for the duck or the house-made gnocchi. Don’t leave in a hurry; the chocolate hummer – essentially a boozy milkshake – is a perfect nightcap.

Chartreuse Kitchen & Cocktails

Leading the charge in culinary innovation, there’s something at Chartreuse for everyone. It’s a place for sharing; a tasting adventure for you and yours. The atmosphere is romantic in its own unique sort of way. Ideal for those with a tendency to pass on the low lights and candles. A lush living wall and green accents refresh the senses as your palate takes a journey throughout multiple courses. Be sure to try one of their signature cocktails to pair with your meal.

The Whitney

Along with a renowned menu and cocktail list, the Whitney’s Valentine’s Day special (February 12-14) will feature a strolling violinist and complimentary roses for guests. This is the perfect spot for the ultra-classic, super-romantic date in a setting that oozes classic style and historic import. Reservations are $99 per person, and include three courses plus dessert.

BARDA

For those who’d rather spend Valentine’s Day at home with their other half, BARDA has you covered. One of Detroit’s hottest new restaurants is delivering its sensational fare directly to your doorstep with the Valentine’s Day BARDA Box. Portioned for two, each box comes with instructions directly from the chef Bardauil himself to ensure your finishing touches are perfect. Expect unique twists on classics, like the celeriac Caeser salad and a side of Huancaina Peruvian potatoes to compliment a perfectly cut filet with chimichurri butter. Plus, receive two chocolate heart desserts and a to-go bottle of your favorite cocktail.
