Golfing has become one of my favorite warm weather hobbies. Which, to be completely honest, is a huge surprise to me. Growing up, my dad would flip on the TV to a golf tournament and I remember thinking to myself, “Wow, could a sport be any more boring than this?”
Needless to say, my thought process was incorrect. Clearly I wasn’t capable enough in my youth to appreciate the game for what it is; a relaxing, enjoyable, mildly active (very active if you don’t use a cart) form of entertainment.
At this point, you might be saying to yourself, “This girl doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Does she understand how frustrating and competitive a game of golf can get?!” Well, you can take a breath now, because I promise you… I DO.
Considering I may or may not have busted a few drivers in my day, I realize that this is a game of skill and it takes a ton of practice if you intend to be a good player. But the fact of the matter is, I don’t.
And that’s just it. Once I actively stopped caring about being good, I started having a serious amount of fun. A group of friends driving around in carts, swinging clubs and drinking beer (responsibly, of course) on a sunny day is just about as good as it can get in my book!
Okay, now on to my point. Unless I am partaking in an early morning golf outing, I try to keep in mind that the avid golfers of the world probably prefer NOT to be sharing a course with me. Not to mention, I like to keep the cost of my less-than-mediocre golf game to a minimum. Therefore, twilight golfing is my best option.
