The Palmer Park Art Fair returns on June 1 and 2, showcasing juried artists from across the country and local art groups, providing a platform for both established and emerging artists for the 10th year. The fair features live performances, hands-on art activities, authors, and a diverse array of food vendors. “There is so much to see and do at the Palmer Park Art Fair that we think of it as a total experience for the whole family and an opportunity to enjoy the wonderful improvements at Palmer Park that include the restored historic Log Cabin, new natural pathways, an apple orchard, and a completely restored and more beautiful than ever Lake Francis,” said Art Fair Director Mark Loeb. “In fact, the setting is especially picturesque with booths surrounding the lake and shaded by the beautiful willow trees.” With free admission and parking, and free activities like painting, pottery, and more, it’s an accessible and enriching event for art lovers and families alike.
CANTERBURY VILLAGE

Step back in time at the Canterbury Village Medieval Faire. This immersive event features thrilling sword fights, fire eaters, court jesters, a life-sized dragon, and authentic living history encampments. For those who appreciate fine dining, don’t miss Oak & Reel’s Culinary Collective. This chef series brings nationally acclaimed chefs to Detroit, offering unique dining experiences right in the Milwaukee Junction restaurant. In June, the series continues with Michelin-starred chef Erik Anderson. Each dinner in the series not only provides a gastronomic delight but also supports the Downtown Boxing Gym, a local non-profit centered around student achievement, as well as local culinary students who get the opportunity to work alongside legends. Last year, students from Henry Ford’s culinary program received a bit of a master class from top chefs like Michael White, Erik Ramirez, and Michael Gallina. They gained hands-on experience working in the kitchen and learning invaluable techniques and tips from Michelin-starred chefs. STRAWBERRY JAM-BOREE

The Birmingham Farmers Market is hosting its first-ever Strawberry JAM-boree, a delightful celebration of all things strawberry. Held in mid-June, this event features fresh strawberries, strawberry-themed festivities, and fun for all ages. It’s a berry wonderful way to spend a Sunday! The Farmers Market is open every Sunday now until the end of October from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with Michigan-grown produce, meat, florals, artisan goods, and more. You’ll also find live music, food trucks, and kids’ activities, with nearby parks, restaurants, and shopping in downtown Birmingham.
JUNETEENTH ON THE CUT

Lafayette and St. Aubin entrance of the Dequindre Cut
Celebrate freedom and unity with Juneteenth on the Cut with live music, food trucks, vendors, storytelling, and more at the Dequindre Cut. Learn and celebrate the legacy of Black Bottom with performances, interactive entertainment, and more at the Campbell Terrace stage. Bikes, skateboards, and roller skates are all welcome, as well as leashed dogs. Park on a nearby street, bring a blanket or pop-up chairs, and enjoy the music, food, and family-friendly activities, honoring this significant day in history.
TAKOI
June 21

Takoi is launching its Passion Fruit event series on June 21st, transforming its patio into a lively space filled with food, cocktails, and music. This monthly summer series, running through September, highlights Takoi’s core values of nourishment and community support. Each event features resident deejay Drew Pompa, monthly guest DJs, specialty cocktails, and Takoi’s classic dishes, with a portion of cocktail sales benefiting local and national charities positively impacting their communities. For June, proceeds will support Keep Growing Detroit, an organization promoting urban farming, sustainable changes in the food system, and more. The specialty cocktails this month include Partial Magic, a carbonated highball with tropical notes, Everyday Epiphany, an Old-fashioned style cocktail, and 9:13 PM, which is a play on a margarita, aptly named after the time the sun will be setting that evening. The event series is free to attend, every third Friday of the month on the patio with no cover charge, making it an excellent way to enjoy a summer evening while giving back to the community.
STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL

Join Blake’s for their annual Strawberry Festival, where you can pick your own strawberries, enjoy strawberry-infused dishes, and partake in a variety of family-friendly activities. Try out one of the many strawberry sweet treats, strawberry-infused mocktails and cocktails to enjoy, and the full-service restaurant. For entertainment, Funland is perfect for the kids, as are pony rides, train rides, and line dancing. The festival also has live music, fireworks, and a bonfire as the day comes to an end, and no tickets are required. It’s a sweet outing that everyone will enjoy.
PRIDE BAR CRAWL

Celebrate Pride Month with the Detroit Pride Bar Crawl hosted by Bar Crawl Live!. This lively event takes participants on a tour of some of Greektown’s and Royal Oak’s best bars and clubs, all while celebrating LGBTQ+ pride and community. Enjoy DJs, dancing, discounted themed drinks, free entry to venues, and more on the 22nd. It’s a fantastic way to support local businesses and enjoy a festive atmosphere.
ROCKET MORTGAGE CLASSIC

Golf enthusiasts should not miss the Rocket Mortgage Classic, a premier PGA Tour event held at the Detroit Golf Club.
