The summer is a great time to hone your skills in athletics, especially for young athletes. It just so happens that Detroit City FC, the Motor City’s own minor league soccer team, along with your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers, are proud to host youth soccer clinics this summer! If your child loves soccer, is looking to improve his or her techniques or is starting from the beginning, then these clinics are a great opportunity for your youngster.
“I think it’s a great way to introduce kids to the sport of soccer,” Sean Mann, co-owner of Detroit City FC, said. “It’s also an opportunity to meet quality players and learn (the game) firsthand.”
The clinics are for ages 6 to 12, and each session lasts for two hours. The following is a list of locations and times for each clinic, which begin this Friday, June 19 and continue through Friday, July 10:
The clinics are led by Detroit City FC soccer players, which gives adolescents a chance to learn from some of the best Detroit has to offer. Children can expect to participate in basic skills training as well as scrimmages at the clinics. In addition to the two hours of instruction, they will also get a DCFC shirt and a ticket to an upcoming game!

“It’s a way to grow the game of soccer right here in Detroit, in a way that people will remember,” said Mann.
Each camp is limited to 75 participants, so the earlier your child is registered, the better. Registration can be completed online at http://detcityfcstore.com/. It costs $35 per participant, but thanks to your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers, it is absolutely free when you enter the code DETROITCITYCHEVY2015 at registration!
It is common for those who participate in camps and clinics, and who are actively working on their game, to become a dependable player in their respective sport. The youth clinics will provide skills training, insights from players and a chance to make a lasting impression on young athletes. Most importantly, though, it will be a great learning experience for the participants, not to mention a fun one.
“The clinics are a simple way (for the children) to lead an active lifestyle, a fun way to engage them in sports and hopefully, since each kid receives a ticket, they can check out a Detroit City FC game and become a fan for life,” said Mann.
Both DCFC and your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers understand the importance of sports and an active lifestyle. These clinics are a good platform to promote both, while engaging the community of Detroit and its metropolitan area.
