Picture the following scenario: it’s a typical night out with your group of friends or family, and you’re all ravenous. You need something for the table to share while you peruse the menu, and it has to be a crowd pleaser. No pickle chips will do, nor calamari. What you need is a piled high plate of nachos.

Nachos are on nearly every bar and restaurant menu in the area, but you’ll find the best of the best at the following establishments:

Ascension Brewing Company

There are three different varieties of nachos to choose from at this Novi brewery: Pulled Pork Nachos, Aristocratic Nachos and el Guapo Nachos. You can’t go wrong with any, but the Pulled Pork Nachos are piled with smoked pulled pork, candied pineapple, red onion, mozzarella cheese, Cheddar ale soup, pico de gallo and green onion.

Los Galanes

This Mexican eatery in Detroit offers nachos with an American twist: Burger Nacho Supreme! Corn chips are topped with ground beef, cheese, tomatoes, green onions, sour cream, guacamole, olives and jalapenos.

It’s the best of both worlds.

Punch Bowl Social

Perhaps you’re looking to enjoy nachos with a vegetable twist. If so, order the vegetarian Cauliflower Nachos at this Detroit venue.

Tortilla chips are topped with roasted cauliflower, jalapeno crema, cilantro queso fondito, queso cotija, pickled onion, jalapeno and crème fraîche. If you’d like to top it with some protein, you can add chicken or pork carnitas.

Black Lotus Brewery

A trio of nachos awaits you at this Clawson brewery, including BBQ Nachos, topped with Muenster cheese, tomatoes, red onion, bacon, jalapeno and sweet barbecue sauce. Other choices include Brewhouse Nachos and Irish Style Nachos. Also, plenty of beer.

That’s not it when it comes to nachos in southeast Michigan! Here are even more options for cheesy topped chips in the D: Central Kitchen + Bar (Detroit), Tio’s (Ann Arbor), Batch Brewing Company (Detroit), The Royal Oak Brewery (Royal Oak) and Ironwood Grill (Plymouth).

Enjoy making your way through Metro D’s best nachos!
