There is no denying that artists are some of the most passionate individuals you will meet. They spend countless hours crafting the perfect piece of art that can be simultaneously personal and appealing to others. There is something that should be celebrated about the artist that travels from art fair to art fair, displaying their work for the masses to see. Luckily, summertime in Metro Detroit offers plenty of opportunities for these talented artists to show off their work and for you to admire and purchase. Below are five street art fairs taking place this summer that you’ll want to check out. Since 1961, the annual Wyandotte Street Art Fair has been providing southeast Michigan with some of the most creative art exhibits seen at a street fair. This year’s festivities kick off today and will run through this Saturday. You might stop by for the photography, wood art, glass art, or countless other beautiful art, but the fair will also feature numerous food vendors, along with entertainment for the whole family. The Ann Arbor Street Fair offers art enthusiasts one of the widest assortments of art in the area. The annual four-day festival has pulled in more than 350,000 people in years past and is known for its immense amount of art, street performances, sidewalk sales, and some scrumptious culinary treats. The 5th Annual Sidewalk Festival will be taking over northwest Detroit this upcoming August. This art fair isn’t like your typical art fair as it celebrates the visual and performing arts in Detroit by transforming underused properties into non-traditional performance venues. All sorts of dancing and other forms of entertainment from more than 40 artists will be on full display for both days. Explore Metro Detroit in a vehicle built for discovery. Downtown Milford will once again play home to the Milford Memories Summer Festival on the weekend of August 11. This year’s festivities include the usual impressive display of local art, but there’ll be plenty of entertainment for the whole family. Look forward to a kid’s activity tent, a rock wall, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a build-a-canoe race, and of course, the cold butt euchre tournament. Art, jazz, food, and live entertainment will be taking over downtown Monroe for their annual Fine Art Fair. This year will feature photography, jewelry, paintings, sculptures, glass work, fiber art, and much more. There’ll also be jazz playing in the pavilion and a children’s art tent for the little ones.
