One of my favorite things about living in metro Detroit is the wide variety of international cuisine and what better way to enjoy the world’s food than with a trip to a local international grocery store? From Turkish delights to Indian spice, here are four ethnic grocery stores in metro Detroit.

Ishtar Ethnic Food

Located in West Bloomfield, Ishtar Ethnic Food has been in operation since 2006 and carries all manner of fresh produce, baked goods and savory meats. Ishtar has its own bakery where they bake fresh stone bread and pies, among other delicious treats, daily. While it’s in-house food team is stellar, Ishtar also carries a variety of imported items from around the world, such as Abu Afif Sweets and Al Ameed Coffee.

Srodek’s

If you’re interested in Polish food, Srodek’s is one to check out. With one location in Hamtramck and another coming to Sterling Heights, Srodek’s prides itself on the authenticity of its Polish cuisine. The store has a finely curated selection of sausage, pierogi, kielbasa and more. Its second location will not only serve as a Polish grocery store but a Polish restaurant with an indoor/outdoor patio and in-house microbrewery when it opens.

168 Asian Mart

This Madison Heights supermarket is filled from wall to wall with fresh seafood, meat, produce, imported Asian food and more. 168 Asian Mart also has an in-house bakery and food court. If you’re shopping on an empty stomach, stop by the food court before you grab your groceries and enjoy some freshly made sushi and other Asian cuisine.

traverse cargo

The Chevy Traverse seamlessly offers the space and versatility your family needs, great for everything from gear to groceries.

Little India Grocers

Little India Grocers in Wixom is a great place for organic Indian grocery items. The store opened last year, holding its grand opening on May 21, 2017. Here, you can find deep toor dal, Greentech frozen vegetables, priya pickles and more.
