At Calexico in Detroit, you’ll find all kinds of starters to go with your main course. The good news is that their elote is served the traditional way (on the cob), and is topped with cotija cheese, lime mayo, chile powder, sour cream and cilantro. After you finish off those tasty cobs, check out their burritos, tacos, fajitas or rolled quesadillas for a complete, flavor-filled meal.
If you’re in northern Oakland County and hankerin’ for some delicious elote, Taco Tienda Mexicana is the place to go. Located inside of a Mexican grocery store in Madison Heights, Taco Tienda makes ample use of its shared space. Street tacos, quesadillas and, yes, elote can be found on the menu. After you chow down, check out the market for anything you might want to bring home and make for the family!
This Ferndale staple has certainly made a name for itself and while most patrons will be aware of their street tacos and margaritas, elote fans will be happy to know they can order a side for just $3. They use sweet corn, grill it and add poblano lime cream, cotija cheese and chilis. There’s even a vegan option that swaps out the poblano lime cream and cotija cheese for a vegan Cholula aioli and almond.
