We understand. A full-size pickup truck, like the Chevy Silverado, is not for everyone. Some of you enjoy the towing capability and durability of a pickup truck but want all of that in a smaller package. The mid-size Chevy Colorado is the perfect solution and, with that in mind, we thought we’d take you around town to places where you can take advantage of our best-in-class1 pickup truck in the Motor City.
Dequindre Cut Greenway
Detroiters are all about mobility and what better way to stretch your legs than a nice walk or bike ride through the Dequindre Cut Greenway? With the available GearOn storage system on the Chevy Colorado, you can store your bikes on top of the truck bed, saving extra room for a cooler, blankets or whatever you like in the bed below. Park at one of the entrances to the Greenway, grab your bikes and when you get back to where you started, refuel with snacks packed away in your cooler. Sounds like a good way to spend a day off!
Eastern Market Flower Day
Speaking of extra storage space, Eastern Market Flower Day is the perfect opportunity to make use of the Colorado’s truck bed and cargo space. The Chevy Colorado may be a mid-size pickup truck, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have room to spare. In addition to the truck bed, the Crew Cab Colorado has a fold-down rear seat with hidden storage space, which means more room for gorgeous flowers. Your garden won’t know what hit it. Detroit River Boat rides on the Detroit River are a must-have experience for any Detroiter. If you’re fortunate to own or be able to rent a boat, you’re still going to need a way to get it there! With an available GM-exclusive DuramaxⓇ 2.8L Turbo-Diesel engine on the Chevy Colorado, you’ll be getting best-in-class towing power2. Now all you need to do is find a nice, sunny day, hitch your ship to the back of the pickup and head on over to the Detroit River for some smooth sailing. Note: The Chevy Colorado does not come equipped with a tiki drink dispenser. Detroit Institute of Arts If the idea of going outside makes your skin crawl a little bit, why not take a trip to the Detroit Institute of Arts, where you can view and appreciate great, historical art safely indoors? This summer, the DIA is holding two new exhibits: “Play Ball! Baseball at the DIA” and “Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume.” Just as baseball is America’s “national pastime” and Star Wars takes place “a long time ago,” Chevy Trucks recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. That’s 100 years of innovation and dependability built into every new Chevy Truck. Saint Andrew’s Hall/The Shelter Speaking of the great indoors, there are a lot of great venues to catch a live show in Detroit. One of those places is Saint Andrew’s Hall and The Shelter: same location, two venues (The Shelter is in the basement). Whether you’re there to catch your favorite indie rock band or one of today’s biggest pop sensations, a concert is still a concert and you might leave the show with a slight ringing in your ears. Don’t worry, because once you’ve made it back to your Chevy Colorado, triple-sealed doors, a thick windshield and a liquid-applied sound deadener will make for a smooth, quiet trip home. — 1Refers to 2018 Chevrolet Colorado’s best-in-class maximum 308 horsepower with available 3.6L V6 engine and best-in-class maximum available towing 7,700 lbs. with 2.8L turbo-diesel engine. 22WD Diesel models have 5,000 lbs. of towing capability. Before you buy a vehicle or use it for trailering, carefully review the Trailering section of the Owner’s Manual. The weight of passengers, cargo and options or accessories may reduce the amount you can tow.
